TOKYO WITH A KID IN RAINY WEATHER

November 21 - 25, 2019

In between Osaka and Tokyo we stopped for a few days in Nagoya, another city we love for food. Sorry, not a lot of interesting photos from this time around in Nagoya. Cody really enjoyed the Nagoya Science Museum, which is totally worth a stop with a kid. Its very interactive and he had a ton of fun.

Unfortunately our last days in Tokyo we experience some torrential downpours which pushed our activities indoors. We had to cave and pay for some indoor play spaces. One that we found was ASOBono! at the Tokyo Dome. If you go, go on a weekday! There are less people and the pricing allows for you to pay for the whole day instead of by the hour. This place boasts the largest ball pit in Tokyo. It was HUGE. It also had a few rooms that were like a kid’s sized grocery store and an entire area for trains. There’s also an infant play area too. Right next door is a food court, so if you’ve paid for all day its easy to shoot over there for a bite take a nap and head back to playing.

We were one of the first ones in, so snapped a shot of Cody as the only kid in the ball pit.

Later on it got pretty crowded inside.

The checkout stations from the grocery store.

Cody grabbed a shopping cart and basically only put bread and pancakes. Not sure what that means about what we feed him …

The train area was insane, just bins of train tracks (all sorted by the way) and trains lined up for kids to play with. The TOMY Tomica trains were so much cooler than any of the train sets we’d seen in the states so we dropped by Bic Camera later and bought a few sets to bring home and give to Cody for Christmas.

We also stopped by another indoor play area the following day in Ikebukero that we had been to previously with our friends Naomi, Jordan and their daughter Akari on a previous trip. Its a play area based on a Japanese kids show on the NHK Educational Channel. I couldn’t take a photo but they have an interactive screen area where the kids can actually interact with the show which was pretty cool.

Our last day in Tokyo we were blessed with good weather finally so we went in search of Nezu Shrine, a small temple with lots of small torii gates.

We also went for a short walk in Yoyogi Park, which was nice.

Cody discovered his pockets for the first time on this trip.
